I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my nutrition therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, body image issues, chronic dieting or if you are looking for support for your child who is struggling with eating concerns, I will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths, and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to experience things in a different healthier way.

My practice specializes in treating individuals with eating disorders and disordered eating.  My clients seek services for Anorexia Nervosa (AN), Bulimia Nervosa (BN), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and Eating Disorders not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS) or atypical eating disorders.   I also work regularly with clients who find they are using food for emotional support.

Additionally for 15+ years I have also specialized in supporting women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and find working to support women with this diagnosis such a rewarding part of my work.  My interest in nutrition began in Maternal Child Health and working with pregnant woman both supporting them during pregnancy but also in teaching them how to support their children to remain intuitive eaters.  Intuitive eating is the cornerstone of my work and I use these skills in all areas from working with parents with small children to my eating disorder clients who need to relearn how to eat. I am a Health at Every Size advocate and weave these tenants into the work that I do as well.

Individual Sessions

Adults: I begin with an initial 90 minute thorough assessment with clients so we can discuss current experiences with food, movement and body.I like to get a good feel for where you are at, what you are hoping for and what your goals might be.  Over the first few sessions we will develop a treatment plan and continually check in on it to make sure we are progressing toward your goals.

Preteen/Teen: I begin with a 2 hour initial session broken into 2 one hour sessions. The first one hour session I meet with the parent(s)/caretakers and then on a different day meet for one hour with the preteen/teen.

Children: For parents who are concerned with their child’s eating habits or behaviors OR for parents who want to practice intuitive eating practices with their children I offer a 2 hour “workshop” to support parents finding peace with the children around food!

Follow-up sessions:  60 minutes in length with frequency of appointments varying from client to client.  We will discuss and determine what you need when we meet for the initial assessment and can make adjustments as time goes on. Some clients need ongoing support and some clients only need to meet once or have just a few appointments.

Support includes time during sessions as well as reasonable contact via email support outside of session. Support also includes regular and productive collaboration with your treatment team, communication with family if needed, and development and adjustment of treatment plans. Meal plans, tracking, and accountability is all individually determined and developed.   I like to create an ongoing google doc with clients where we track goals, practice skill work from sessions, take valuable notes, record insights, write journal prompts and engage in self exploration as it relates to the relationship with body, food, and movement.

Family Sessions and Support
One of my favorite areas of work is with teenagers and their mothers.  So many brave mothers out there are looking at their own relationships with food and their bodies for themselves, and as they relate to their child’s development of self.  I enjoy helping women of all ages along this journey either together in sessions or working independently with moms and daughters or sons.  I provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judge-mental experience to be on this valuable and wonderful journey.
Family support might also be for a child struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating and body image concerns who needs more advanced support. I provide medical nutrition therapy for those struggling which includes family based approaches for the treatment of eating disorders.  I stay in close contact with families and treatment teams to support clients who can be treated at an outpatient level of care.
I am trained and provide Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorders (FBT) and am eager to work with families needing help implementing and supporting this effective strategy and treatment for eating disorders with their teenage child at home.
Transition Sessions and Support
As the registered dietitian on a eating disorder treatment team I will be helping to assess if you or your child needs a higher level of care. If that is determined then I will be part of the support to help you navigate that process to finding higher level treatment.  I provide clinical data to the new team and stay in contact with the RD and therapist on the new time while you are in treatment and also transitioning back to my care.
Group Sessions
I love doing group sessions and am happy to report that I have started a group support session.  We began as a “Book Club” and chose to read the book “Eating in the Light of the Moon”.  The group was very successful and the participants have decided to continue.  Group is open to current clients and is dependent on space and appropriateness.
